| Expertise | I trained as an evolutionary and behavioural ecologist, specialising in sexual and natural selection, ornithology and population dynamics, but have since moved into biodiversity planning and conservation biology. The two areas are much more interactive than many might think! My field research has covered a range of wetland, montane grassland, subtropical and semi-arid savanna, fynbos and desert habitats. I am now more routinely involved in environmental planning, policy, coordination and monitoring in the fields of biodiversity and environmental change (including climate change and desertification), especially with birds and bird habitats. I also have several PhD students and Postdoctoral associates in my team. |
