SAIEES representation on SACNASP
13 June 2009
Our previous Chairperson, Bill Harding, has been appointed by the Minister of Science and Technology to serve on the SACNASP Council for a period of 4 years. This is the first time SAIEES, as a voluntary organization, has had direct representation on this Committee. Bill has recently attended the first meetings for 2009 and has passed the following on to us:
"The coming year should bring some interesting changes - as you may know the category Aquatic Science has now been added to the re-worked field of registration categories. The current category of Ecological Science currently contains most of the Aquatic Scientists - who will probably now request re-listing under Aq Science. This will spark debate at the committee on what to do with Eco Science, as this is not a discipline per se and requires in reality a registration in a parent discipline, such as Zoo, Bot or whatever. Similarly SACNASP will be looking at exactly where Environmental Science fits in."
